Linae, the Kougra from Shenkuu, went shopping for Kou-jong tiles at the local toy shop the other day. The kou-jong tiles were on sale for only 28 Neopoints each.
However, she got it in her head that, for good luck, the total amount of Neopoints she must spend must be a number where all of the digits are the same.
With that in mind, what is the minimum number of tiles she must buy?
Why is it I always, ALWAYS mess up on the easy LC? It’s like my brain is deliberately trying to trip me up. Instead of submitting the number of tiles, I submitted the amount of NP. Grrr!!!
Let eliminate the possibility first. She’s buying, which mean the number of tiles must be greater than 0. There aren’t that many numbers that have same digits.
Two digits: 11, 22, 33, 44, 55, 66, 77, 88, 99
Three digits: 111, 222, 333, 444, 555, 666, 777, 888, 999
Four digits: 1111, 2222, 3333, 4444, 5555, 6666, 7777, 8888, 9999
and on, and on… She can’t buy half a tile so the tiles must be whole numbers. Quickest way is to use the same digit numbers and divide it by 28 until you get a whole number.
could i start playing?
